Part of early 20s love is really trying to figure out if you're in love, if you're in lust, or if you're just really pining for something you can't have. We get to kind of experience love through a few different individuals as a group and over time. What can you say about his feelings and the convoluted nature of his dynamic with Charisse and Clare?ĭesmin Borges: Yeah, it's interesting. Gomez is also a good friend but, as you said, a confused one. "Who are you? What are you doing here? How long have you been here? Why don't I know about this? We've had so many girl talks, what is happening?" I love that she has no filter, because she loves Clare so much and just wants to protect her. I really love that she understands it, she gets shocked, and then we go into protective mode. Why not? I was trying to find the level of going from, "Oh, my God," which I love - because we're really the viewers in that moment and get to share that together - to the next step. She believes in God, so this could totally be fine as well. How I made sense of it for her was Charisse believes in the supernatural. I thought about Charisse as a Catholic woman as a very spiritual woman. I really love episode 4, because Clare finally gets to share with somebody that loves. Are we exploring things? Are we living life? Like? Do we love each other, or are we in love with each other? I feel like they've gone through a lot of stages together.
Natasha Lopez: I think they're soulmates in and of themselves, whether that might have been confusing in their early 20s. Since we don't get to see the linear progression of that friendship, how would you describe their relationship and feelings for each other? Natasha, Charisse seems like the more level-headed of the two, and she's really supportive of Clare throughout this rather sticky situation. And it starts exploding like fireworks it's no longer any sort of linear pathway. Because he was always a really loyal man child with a truculent nature, and now you add this extreme curiosity and zest for time travel. I think that confusion really dissipates, and we see even more of that boyish curiosity come out of him, which was always really fun to explore. I think the first time he becomes clear about anything in life is when the time traveling action actually happens in front of him, and he realizes, "This is the coolest damn thing that has ever happened to me, and I am in it. He's confused about who he loves, why he loves, where he is, why he's in the profession that he's in.
He's not just confused about time travel. Desmin Borges: Gomez is confused about a lot of things.
